Residents from Caldersahw and around Norden came out in force this weekend to take part in the Great Norden Rake-Off.
This was the first gathering of the Friends of Heritage Green since the area was awarded official village green status last month and there was plenty of support to show that the new green was in good hands. Community volunteers, supported by Rangers from Rochdale Council and Local Ward Councillors gave up their Sunday morning to help clear and tidy the green.
Work involved cutting back overgrown trees, raking back areas of overgrown grass which had been strimmed earlier in the week and removing rocks and stones from the ground so that mowers could access the area next year.
Rochdale Parks & Countryside Ranger, Bob Bevan said "What a difference Sunday's Great Rake-off session made and such a good turn out! Thanks to all the group members."
