Look for a Book is a new, fun initiative that we are pleased to have launched in Norden following the success of a similar scheme in Cumbria.
The idea is simple... A selection of reading books have been hidden all over Norden in reusable waterproof plastic bags, ready to be found by local children. When a child finds a book they are encouraged to read it with family and friends before placing it back into the bag and hiding it again for another little reader to find and enjoy.
The scheme is intended to help to get children active as they search for new books to read and get them reading in a fun way. The idea has already had approval from local parents who are loving the opportunity to get youngsters out and about.
Karen Winkler, who organised the scheme said: "This is just a great idea and a brilliant way to engage children, especially reluctant readers with a bit of fun and adventure. We hope that children enjoy reading the books and it's just a great opportunity to get out of the house over the summer holidays."
