The Birtle Trust is a volunteer group which aims to preserve the natural and built environment in and around Birtle.
It meets on the second Wednesday of the month at the Pack Horse at 8.00pm. Everyone is welcome.
The Trust was set up over 20 years ago when plans were announced to re-open the quarry near the Church on Castle Hill Road.
After succeeding in opposing this industrialisation, the Trust has been active in planting woodlands and doing ongoing maintenance tasks such as clearing footpaths and working with both Bury and Rochdale Councils to ensure that Birtle's natural and historic assets are protected.
The Trust relies on subscriptions form its members - just £5 per year per household and the time, effort and expertise of its members to get things done.
We welcome new members and hope that if you care for Birtle, that you will join up to help protect this special place.
